The rate of pay fixed for seamen of the Australian Navy is 4/- a day, which is claimed to be the highest in the world. No difficulty is anticipated in getting men. ANOTHER GERMAN DREADNOUGHT. Berlin, June 12. Germany’s tenth Dreadnought, the Friedrich der Grosse, has been launched. Field-Marshal Vondergoldy, in a baptismal speech, expressed the wish that the battleship might increase Germany's prestige abroad. Germany in her evolution had entered new paths successfully, the completion of which required a strong navy such a$ the foresight of her Imperial War Lord had created.

It is understood that among the matters considered by the executive of the New Zealand Federation of Labour during its meeting in Wellington to-day was the attitude which would have to be taken in connection with the supply of coal to the ships of the British Navy if a strike was declared at any f imp Lieut. Sydenham, Admiralty agent at Westport, interviewed the executive with a view to securing an assurance that the Admiralty coal orders could always be filled. The result of the interview is not available. NAPIER CADETS. To-morrow and on Monday next the Napier City Cadets will parade when Mie movements for the special parade on Coronation Day will be practised. No leave will be granted.
