AUCKLAND RESJDENCE DESTROYED. [PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Auckland. Mav ,'o. An eight-roomed house in Selbourne street. Grey Lynn, owned by Mr. Darling, of Coromandel, and occupied by Mr. Carter, was tota'lv destroyed by fire to-nurht. The adjoining houses were damaged by the Hames, the one occupied bv Mrs. Blake suffering most severely. Mr. Carter and his wife and children w'ere absent when the fire broke out. No information as to the insurances is available. HOUSE AT ASHBURTON Ashburton. May 31. A six-roomed house in Peter street, owned and occupied by Mr. H. Shepherd, was with its contents destroyed by fire at 5.30 this morning. 'The origin of the outbreak unknown. The insurances are £265.
