FOOTBALL.
HASTINGS RUGBY SUBUNION.
The weekly meeting of the Hastings Rugby Sub-Union was held last evening, Mr. J. Garnett presiding. The Rev. J. B. Brocklehurst accepted the position of vicepresident and forwarded a donation. A donation was also received from Messrs. Graham and Gebbie. The following entries were received for the seven-a-side tournament to be played next Saturday:— Rovers (2 senior, 2 junior), Pirates (2 senior, 1 junior), Napier High School Old Boys (2 junior), Napier High School (1 junior), Kautuki (1 senior, 1 junior), Waimarama (1 junior), Celtic (2 junior), Athletic (2 senior, 1 junior), Old Boys (2 senior, 2 junior). The names of G. Balcombe, L. O’Halloran, West, Moko Kingi, and Martin were added to the Athletic list.
Officials were appointed to take control of Saturday’s competitions, and owing to the large number of entries received it was decided to limit the games to five-minute spells, each club to provide at least one ball.
Accounts amounting to £3/0/8 were passed for payment.
