THE CENSUS

Mr. S. G. Poppelwell, Chief Census Enumerator, supplies us with further unchecked returns as follows :— Clive 1113. Havelock North 1308.

Puketapu West, which is that portion of the Puketapu riding west of Rissington, 360. Meanee 1650, of which 380 are in Napier South. Petane 1189, of whom 525 are in Westshore.

The population of Napier borough is estimated to be about 9700 based on the average per household shown in the Hastings returns. Napier South (380) is included in the Meanee census district, and Westshore (525) is included in the Petane returns. The exact figures for Napier are not yet available.
