HARBOUR BOARD ELECTION.
HAAA’KE’S BAY COUNTY.
TTAATNG been asked by a num--LA her of Ratepayers to continue as a Representative on the Napier Harbour Board, I have consented to again be nominated. As the electorate is now so large 1 cannot personally interview all, so now request the favour of your vote at the election.
I am in favour of doing everything possible to improve the Inner Harbour, which I believe can now be made a splendid work, greatly due to the action of the Breakwater, on which little more should be spent. I am against any vast expenditure in connection with the Inner Harbour Scheme, however, as I consider that it can bo done gradually out of revenue and with the least possible resort to borrowing. for which the Board’s extensive reserves could be pledged. I am most anxious to keep down .Rates on Property. At the same time attention must be paid to the encouragement of shipping by not 'unduly increasing dues, so that th? I trade of the Pori may be extended and thus extra revenue be gain J. ; I have the honour to be | Yours obediently. , W. KINROSS WHITE.
