This entitles him to vote for three members to represent the County. A County Ratepayer may also vote in Napier if he is on the Napier Municipal Roll. Similarly, he may also vote in Hastings or in both places, if qualified. OUR PLATFORM. HARBOGR BOARD ELECTION.

Hawke's Lay and AVairoa Division

Ladies and Gentlemen. — TNURING the time I have been -L-' a member of the Napier Harbour Board my aim, especially, has been to preserve intact the space : < required for the Inner Harbour, j as I realise that the future trade i of the Port will require all the accommodation it can get. I have! done what I could to secure that! liie proposed embanked roadway i and bridge, which must be made, soon, as the existing bridge is con-1 d»mned, shall be placed where it ! w ill not restrict the Inner llar-» hour, and be so constructed that it ; shall reclaim valuable land, relieve the districts liable to flood, and' p event silt entering ili»- Inner Harbour, thus saving the cost of cnt i minus dredging. The local b >dics interest cd. with the new Central River Board, should attend to this at once. While recog- . nising the impossibility of raising . a loan, at present. I do not approve of doing more than the necessary repairs and maintenance of Har- ' hour works out of revenue, but i : shall support the maVing of any ’ careful tests to prove whether the Inner Harbour can be made capable of receiving the largest vessels. Should you return me as your representative, my desire will be to make the Port worthy of the district.—Yours faithfully, THOMAS CLARK.
