TANGOIO.
(Special Correspondent.)
The Government workers are j making a bridle track 10ft wide be- ■ tween Tangoio and Waipatiki. It i is not yet completed, there being; probably another month’s work; yet. This road lies along the | coast, and the bush scenery andj seascapes are probably unequalled j in any other part of New Zealand. I Messrs. Skulleon and Russell’s i contract for forming a road to join] with the Wairoa coach road has i been accepted. This new road is | to run between what is known as | “ The Devil’s Elbow ” and Tangoio. I A wash-out at Tangoio may be j expected at any time. During thei space of a few hours yesterday the! lagoon gradually crept across the I beach for half a chain. It is; pleasing to state, however, that | soon the road will be deviated, and | the delays and dangers now experi-i enced in crossing the wash-out will be things of the past.
