SCARCITY OF FINGER POSTS.

A COMPLAINT BYi TOURISTS. The clerk of the Hawke’s Bay County Council has received the following letter from the ‘.Tourist Department:—“l am directed by the Hon. the Minister for Tourist and Health Resorts to draw your attention to the fact that tourists and others travelling throughout this Dominion are frequently inconvenienced by the absence of finger-posts where roads diverge, while in some cases where fingerboards have been provided the signs have become broken or otherwise illegible. I know that the complaints may possibly have no application whatever so far as your particular county is concerned, but I am addressing a copy of this circular letter to all County Councils throughout the Dominion.” I shall be glad if you will bring this conimunication under the notice of your Council with a view to its taking such action, as it may deem advisable in ordetto make adequate provision for theassistance and guidance of persons: travelling on the public road? throughout your County.”
