SWAGGER ON THE LINE. Wellington, Feb. 23. An elderly man, apparently a swagger, was run over by a train and had both legs cut off, one above the knee and the other at the ankle. ,
FULLER’S MANAGER. DROWNED. Christchurch, Feb. 23. Mr. Alexander Forbes Orr, manager of Fuller’sy Opera House, was found drowned in the Avon, towards Dallington, early this evening. He went out alone in a canoe and some youths walking along the bank of the river later saw the canoe floating bdttom upwards. A boy in a punt came along and was assisting to get the canoe to shore when he saw Mr. Orr’s body beneath it. Mr. Orr came front Wellington, where his people reside. CEMENT WORKS FATALITY. Auckland, Feb. 23. George Dixon, the second victim of the accident at Wilson’s Cement Works, - Warkworth, died in the hospital last night. The accident occurred in a rotary building where clinker was burned by a fierce flame. One of the coal bins was overflowing, and Davidson went to turn off thdtoverfiow, which caught fire. {Davidson caught the full . force of tiie explosion. Dixon a]so„, received the injuries which- resulted in his death.
