HASTINGS TRAINING NOTES.

[By " Early Bird."] Racecourse, Tuesday. Although the weather was showery and cold this morning there were a large number of touts out to see the final working gallops, piior to the tests that will be asked of the animal engaged. The outside horses, with one or two exceptions, have all arrived. New Forest was the first to work, and put in a couple of circuits on the grass at half and three-quai ter pace. Sirooco did a like task, brushing home the last two furlongs. Victoiia Cross galloped seven furlongs alone, and put in another round at half pace. Barbarossa was restricted to two rounds at half-pace. The gelding was fighting for his head all the way. Amoursux ran about six furlongs on the outside of the grass, finishing well. Tataramoa, who is looking and going very well, was restricted to two circuits at three-quarter paoe. Voltaire, a new arrival from the Wairarapa, who claims hurdle engagements, looks bright and well, and moves nicely. He pleased the touts very much, going two circuits at three-quarter pace. Ruby, who will be hurd to beat tomorrow, did a lifee task. Douglas and Oingo in company put in one circuit, finishing the last four furlongs at top, and together. First Blood, who never looked better in his life, did two circuits at three-quarter pace alone. Hastings, Rosella, Explosion, and Miss Emmy cantered once round. The firstnamed pair are Wright's two-year-oldß, and both look a littie on the light side and show signs of doing a good lot of racing ; but the little filly is a good one for her size all the same. Miss Emmy looks very big, and is one of the biggest mares racing I should say. Explosion shows signs of a little rough usage, spur marks and so on. However, I expect to see him one of the best in the Cup. Te Hapuku cantered three circuits. First Whisper did the same. Castashore, who is quite well again, galloped about a mile and a quarter, and finished very well. Mistra cantered two circuits. Tigress, pulling hard, was restricted to two circuits at three-quarter pace. Tortulla and Gobo, who are both looking bright and well, put in a couple of circuits at half pace, brushing home the last half mile. Titoki, out of ther same stable, cantered once round. Black Jacket, Mr Paul's nominee, is a two-year-old fine big filly, and put in one circuit at half pace. Palaver and Tirade galloped seven furlongs, both finishing well. Baccarat galloped six furlongs alone, and look's very well. Brennan did three circuits at slow pacing. Tauhei, the handsome grey mare, put in two circuits at half pace. The Frenchman did a like task.
