H.B. GUN CLUB.

The autumn meeting of the Hawke's Bay Gun Club was held yesterday at the Stortford Lodge grounds, the weather being all that could be desired. Owing, however, to the threatening aspect of rain for the past two days the attendance was not as large as had been anticipated, but the shooting for the club's trophy evoked an interesting contest between Messrs G-. R. King and Tareha, who shot each of their seven birds, and in firing off Mr G-. R. King killed no fewer than 11 birds before he was proclaimed the winner, Me Tareha killing bird for bird with the victor until his eleventh, when he got a bird particularly strong on the wing, which took an awkward angle, and Mr Tareha missed. Mr G. R. King has now won the trophy twice, Mr P. Martin twice, and Messrs Mackersey and Douglas once each. It has to be won three times by a member before it becomes his absolute property. The shooting of Messrß Do Pelichet, Hooper, and Davis was very consistent. There was an excellent supply of birds, which were, however, somewhat slow to rise. The arrangements were under the direction of Mr W. D. Ireland, Mr A. T. Danvers was handicapper, and Mr B. C. Ware Bcored. An excellent lunch waß provided by Mr and Mrs A. Bllingham at Stortford Lodge Hotel.
