ACCUSED COMMITTED FOR^ TRIAL. [BY TELEGRAM.] Wellington, Thursday. At Masterton to-day Robert Douglas, charged with outraging a girl, was committed for trial. The name of the girl on whom the offence was committed is Jessie Remington. Douglaß (says tjhe Wairarapa Times) having effected his purpose, the girl, in fear ot her life, feigned death, and eventually fainted. On recovering she found herself lying by the roadside covered up in fern. The clothing worn by Miss Eeinington is torn to shreds, and it is evident she must havo struggled fearfully. Douglas was arrested some tiina ago -on a charge of attempted criminal assault, but acquitted in the Supreme Court, Wellington. THE AUSTRIANS. MORE TROUBLE IN STORE. [BY TELECTOAPH.] Auckland, Thursday. About 100 Austrians are on the Mokoia, due here on Sunday. The Austrian Consul is not prepared to enter into a bond for their landing, and the Government have issued instructions that the Union Company must execute a bond for d£lo per headbefore the Austrians will be allowed to land. • Later. The lqcal agent of the Union Company declines to give any information as to, what'actiou the company will take on the. arrival of the Austrians by the Mokoia on Sunday, and the action of the Government ib being looked forward to with, interest.
