DINNERS AT DELMONICO'S.

The correspondent of an American : journal writes that he was lately offered the following dinner for fourteen persons at Dtlmonico'd, served in a private room, and with every possible elegance, for ten dollars, or two guineas, a head. The menu consisted of oyster's, aoup, salmon, lamb, vegetables of many kinds, roast beef, French peas, red-head duck>>, salads, ioea, fruits and coffee.. The wines included six bottles of Sauterne, two of sherry, six of Bordeaux, six of champagne, and liqueurs. We imagine there is no lack of restaurateurs in Lon. don and Paris who would be delighted to serve the above dinner in a private room to fourteen guests at a much lower aggregate charge than twentyeight guineas. If Delmor.ico's is the best,- it is probably the dearest cafe in the world. " The average price per head at Delmonico's," say a the T.ransatlantio contemporary from whioh we have already quoted, " is eight dollars/ or about one pound twelve shillings, a - charge against which nine Frenchmen out of every ten would vigorously rebel. Occasionally, however, there are dinners at Delnionieo'a which cost 6fty dollars— that 13 to Bay more than ten pounds — for each diner ; bat it is added that this outrageous sum is- spent upon floral presents put beiide the plates rather than .upon deliotfoies and wines. We are told that the Chamber of Commerce at New Tork gives a yearly dinner at Delmonico's, for which twenty dollars, or four guineas, per head are charged.
