that a little more promptitude at head quarters would have precluded the possibility of our being so iniquitously plundered. Another d^sp; tsh is to the effect that fivesixths of our land revenue is to be at the disposal of the local government — in the meantime, af that of the- Commissioner.. of Crown Lands. The Auckland regatta was just over ; it is said to have exceeded all its predecessors, — Mr Stafford had gone to Sydney to meet Mr Sewell, intending thence to visit England, in hope, according to Auckland gossip, of receiving the honour of knighthood. — Mr G. Rich, well known in this district, had gone to England with the view of visiting Germany and purchasing fresh blood in the shape of Saxony merino rams. — A large Auckland firm, it is said, had sent a vessel to a neighbouring colons for 3000 merino ewes. — We observe nothing of consequence in the papers.
