INCIDENCE OF MALNUTRITION
POSITION IN PRIMARY SCHOOLS. REQUEST FOR AN INQUIRY. (By Telegraph —Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Sept. 13. The children’s relief committee today carried the following resolution for submission to the Minister of Health: “To ascertain the position in the primary schools of New Zealand this committee requests that a searching inquiry be made with a view to determining the extent and incidence of malnutrition arising from insufficient nourishment.” Mr C. S. Thompson, who presided, j said the committee had relieved a great deal of real distress. Hundreds 1 of children unable to attend school through lack of clothing, boots arid shoes were supplied with these necessities. Now, owing to the exhaustion I of its funds, the committee was un-! able to continue its efforts. There was still a large number of children in urgent need.
