TARANAKI EDUCATION BOARD

APPOINTMENT OF TEACHERS REPLACEMENT OF SCHOOLS Those present at the monthly meeting of the Taranaki Education Board at New Plymouth yesterday were Messrs. J. A. Valentine (chairman), J. <J. Barclay, F. A. Lee,. W. H. Jones, J. McAllister. T. J. Griffin and Dr. W. AI. Thomson. On the recommendation of the teachers’ selection committee the following transfers were approved : —Miss A. L. Shannon, from Waiau to Egmont Village; Miss L. Greves, from Ongarue to Okato, as infant mistress; Aliss M. Peacock, from Waiau to Stanley as head-teacher: Miss El. 11. Keunedy. from Whareroa to Waiau, as sole teacher : Mr C. W. Pearce, from Okato to Inglewood, as headmaster. The following appointments were given effect to :—Auroa, head teacher, Mr W. Kerr; Ongarue, head teacher. Air T. Archer; Riverlea, head teacher, Aliss W. B. Chapman; Ngatarawa, sole teacher, Aliss Cl Biennerhaasett • Inglewood, assistant mistress, Aliss M. E. Leech; Ivaponga, assistant mistresss. Aliss E. Conway; Waitara, assistant mistress, Aliss H. Hylands. The following resignations Were received: Air R. Brown, headmaster. Inglewood; Aliss G. W. Beard,- head teacher, Stanley; Air A. F. Ellis, head teacher, Raekohua; Aliss R. El. ALnrtin, assistant, Waitara: Aliss AI- P Kurta, assistant, Mahoe; Miss E. G. Tippins, assistant, Egmont Village ; Aliss AI. E. Alurray, rationed assistant. Hawera.

The chairman, was asked to deal with the appointment of an additional assistant at Hawera. The architect was authorised to act in repairs or maintenance to the Westown, Dudley Road, Ngaere, Tarata, Central and Tokaora schools. He was also given power to act in the provision of cement for the Eltham. Rowan' and Ohangai schools. The department notified that grants had been approved for the replacement of the Ivina and Pihama schools, and for an additional classroom at Alokau.
