STUDENT REPAYS “LOAN”

REMISSION OF FEES. LOSSES IN NAPTER -’QUAKE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, Aug. 21. The University Council received yesterday from a student, Mr W. SCarrie, an amount representing a remission in fees allowed him through losses suffered in the Napier earthquake. The writer stated that lie had always regarded the remission as a loan. The registrar stated that he was the first man to repay, to which .the chancellor replied that it war, an unconditional remission and repayment was not expected. It was resolved to express the council’s appreciation to Air Carrie.
