NO WORRY OVER JBUTTER. INCREASE IN CONSUMPTION. (United Preen Association-—By Electric Telegrapn dopy right.) SYDNEY, March 28. Observations on the butter and cheese outlook in the United Kingdom were made to-day by Mr F. S. Warren, managing director of J. J. Lonsdale and Company, Ltd., English butter importers, who arrived (from London to-day to investigate various phases of the dairying produce industry in the Dominions and to make personal contact vyith exporters. Mr Warren, who was director o£ butter and cheese supplies for the British Government during the war, expressed the opinion that there was little need for Australian producers to worry too much about the probability of butter restrictions in Eiigland. Although it was most- difficult to forecast the market very far ahead owing to disturbed international conditions, he felt justified in saying that the dairy export trade would continue tt, move to a higher level. He pointed out that the consumption of butter in the United Kingdom last year was the greatest in the history of the country. The output of margaxine had continued to decrease and for the first time an Empire country, New Zealand, headed the list of percentages of supplies of butter to the British market, New Zealand having provided 28 per cent, of the total imports, or seven per cent, above the quantity supplied in 1933. Imports from Australia, had increased by 24 per cent., equalling 22 per cent, of the total supplies. Denmark, with 26 per cent., was down 1 per cent. Ireland showed an increase of 24 per cent. Mr Warren added that the total imports of cheese into Britain in 1934 were 149,425 tons, of which New Zealand supplied 104,602 tons, Canada 26,011 tons and Australia 5722 tons.
