ENTHUSIASTIC WELCOME
Duke of Gloucester’s Arrival at Portsmouth AN ENJOYABLE TOUR MET BY TWO BROTHERS (United Press Association —By Electrlo Telegraph Copyright). Received 11 a.m. to-day. LONDON, .March 28. Portsmouth enthusiastically welcomed the Duke of Gloucester, whom the Prince of Wales and the Duke of ork greeted, as ,ho disembarked. All ships in Spithead harbour -were dressed, and 11.M.A.5. Australia was accorded the Royal salute as she passed through Spithead, escorted by five destroyers and five flying boats. The Australia arrived late,, owing to a Channel fog.
The Duke of Gloucester was officially ■welcomed by Lord Mottiestone. Replying, he said his tour had b'ecn alto : gether enjoyable.' He was'grateful for the kindness he had received, overseas, and also the warmth of the welcome to-day. The Royal brothers entrained for London amid cheers from civilians and ratings.
The Duke of Gloucester alighted at the flower decked, beflagged Victoria Station, where he was met by Their Majesties and representatives of the Dominions, including Sir James Parr. A Brigade of the Guards provided a guard of honour. Thousands gathered in spring sunshine to cheer the Duke en route for Buckingham Palace.
