Mr W. B. Johnstone, who was formerly for many years a resident of Hawera, has been very seriously ill in hospital in Wanganui, and his condition is causing his relatives grave concern. '
Mr T. Trask, of Argyle Street, who has been somewhat seriously indisposed for some, weeks, is now steadily improving. Mrs. J. Henson and Miss Jessie Henson, of Hawera, leave shortly on a visit t,o Scotland and the Shetland Islands. At the annual meeting of the Hawera Pipe Band last night, the president, Mr. C, H. Bowman, referred tc their impending departure and, on behalf of the members, wished them a pleasant trip. - The retiring chairman of the Taranaki branch of the New Zealand Society of Accountants, Mr G. A. Duncan -was accorded the thanks or the branch for two years of service at-the annual meeting of members at xiawera last night. Inglewood farmers farewelled on Wednesday, Mr. T. J. Salmon, who has recently been appointed secietaiy to the Hawera Dairy Co Speeches were made by Messrs A. Cork ill <Tarata) H. Jones (Kaimata), W. V Mclntyre (Waitui), and H. RL Marsh (Egmont Village). Mr. Salmon was presented with a cigarette ease inscribed with bis initials.
