NEXT OLYMPIC GAMES

Japan’s Generous Offer to Visiting Athletes SUGGESTIONS FOR 1940 SELECTIONS DESERVED (United Press Association —By E'.ectrio Idegr&ph Copyright). Received 10.30 a.m. to-day. TOKIO, Feb. 21. The Mayor told representatives of the foreign Press that beside the million offered for foreign athletes’ travelling expenses, Tokio would spend fifteen million yen on grounds and ample facilities if selected for the 1940 Olympic Games. Moreover, the Diet would make a big appropriation.

It is thought that Japan deserves selection, due to her sports achievements, while the Olympic Games have not yet been held in Asia. Moreover, 1940 will coincide with the celebration of the twenty-six hundredth anniversary of the founding of the Japanese Empire.
