EX-MINISTERS ANGERED
RETURN OF DOCUMENTS ORDERS FRQm”dOWNING STREET cjw-tad Aa —uofiviooasY us&id P^! a £U i-%nsu£(t(xj LONDON, Oct. o. Downing Street has ordered every member of Cabinet who has held office since 1919 to surrender instantly all documents in thieir possession,, the News-Chronicle understands. Where Ministers have died since 1919 the request has been made to their executors. The sudden an unexpected demand has puzzled and angered the ex-Min-isters concerned, some of whom see in the move an attempt to muzzle criticism of the complicated political moves of 1931.
Others believe it is intended to prevent former members of Cabinet using official documents for the purpose of memoirs and newspaper articles.
