PRINCE’S MARRIAGE
Formal Consent Given by the Privy Council
REPRESENTATIVE ASSEMBLY ATTENDANCE BY ROYALTY (British Official Wlnsieee.s Received 2.15 p.m. to-day. ■RUGBY, Get. 5. The King held a Privy Council at Buckingham Palace, at which His Majesty gave formaT ’consent to the marriage of Prince George to Princess Marina. The Council was one of the most representative held in recent years. Tw o members of the Royal family, the Prince of Wales and the Duke of Connaught, were present. The Council was the first State function in which the Prime Minister has participated 3i'nee his return from his health tour. By a fortunate occurrence, three statesmen who hold, or have held, office as Prime Ministers of Dominion Governments were also in London and attended the Council. They were the Bt. Hon. R. B. Bennett, General Smuts and the Rt. Hon. S. M. Bruce
PRIVY COUNCIL THANKED VISIT BY PRINCE GEORGE (United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph Copyright.) Received 2.45 p.m. to-day. LONDON, Oct. 5. A unique incident occurred at the Privy Council meeting, which lasted a quarter of an hour, after which the doors opened and Prince George entered. He shook hands with each of the Privy Councillors and laughingly thanked them for formally acceding to his marriage. He was not qualified to attend the meeting, not being a Privy Councillor.
