McLEaN LEADS ALBERTSON. (By Telegraph—Press Association.> DUNEDIN, Oct. 5. With half of the final of 1500 in the New Zealand amateur billiards championship concluded, H. McLean, Christchurch, is leading A. Albertson, Lyttelton, last year’s champion, by 190 points, the scores being McLean 752, Albertson 562. There was a fairly large attendance in the Returned ■Soldiers’ Hall to-night to witness the game, which will be completed tomorrow night. McLean was playing far more consistent billiards than his opponent, making effective U3e of the losing hazard, and soon went into the lead, retaining it until the adjournment. When he reached the score of 596 his opponent was at 407. A fine break of 62 brought the latter to 471, but he seor-! ed only 8 more points McLean went on to 735 with tne assistance of a 44 break. McLean then came to a standstill when he wanted only 15 to finish the session, and before he could make the required number Albertson had brought Ids score to 562.
McLean’s best breaks were 51, 45, 36, 34, 38, 30 and 44. For 79 visits to the table he averaged 9.6. Albertson’s best breaks were 33, 34 62 and 31. Por 78 visits to the table he averaged 7.2.

In the billiards championship match Walter Li'ndrum (Australia) has scored 18,073 (including breaks of 594, 238 and 434 unfinished) and dark Me--Coriachy (New Zealand), 17,464 (including breaks of 539, 385 and 3'4G).
