TELEGRAPH POLES ON FIRE
"LINE BROKEN NEAR TAUPIEI REPAIRS IN T,W(O HOURS (By Telegraph—Frees Association.) WELLINGTON, April 8. Telegraphic and telephonic communication with Auckland was interrupted on Saturday afternoon by a fire which destroyed a number of telegraph poles a/bout 24 miles south of Taupiri and brought the lines down. All districts to the south were cut off for two hours, after which, it was reported, temporary communication w r as restored.
