He was confident, if. this were done, that a first-class show could be got. up, and he would urge its adoption by the Patea Association and the holding of the next show at Hawera. Mr. M. D. King seconded. It was at any rate a first step in the direction of amalgamation and showed a desire to work harmoniously with their neighbours. Mr Livingston feared that if this resolution were carried it would injure the prospects of the new association. A great deal of ill-feeling had been caused by the Patea Association suing for subscriptions in the Hawera district. It .would be wiser to offer special inducements to outsiders in the meantime The local association should do its best to get up a strong body of subscribers first. A long discussion followed as to the advisability of registering the association and of suing for unpaid subscriptions. _ Most of those present appeared to be opposed to legal proceedings being taken against defaulters or i.c any legal expenses being incurred in registration. Finally, on the motion of Mr. Nolaii, the resolution was amended to read as follows: “That il is desirable to arrange with other A. and P.
