The “Referee’s” Berlin c,orrespond=ent says a passenger-carrying rocket successfully completed a ten-minute [journey, thus idealising a dream of Jules Verne. The rocket was shot six miles into the air at a secret demonstration oil the Baltic island of Ruegen and Otto, a brother of the constructor, Hugh Fischer, risked his life on the extra ordinary journey. Otto entered a 24-foot torpedo-shaped steel projectile and was shot into the air with a deafening roar. Later Otto declared lie lost consciousness for a minute owing to the tremendous acceleration driving the blood from his head. The altimeter began to fall. “At 32,000 feet I opened the parachute attachment and began the descent,” he said.
