CAMPAIGN AGAINST CANCER
RADIOLOGICAL PHYSICIST. WELLINGTON APPOINTMENT. (By Irlfgraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Nov. 4. The central executive of the New Zealand branch of the Empire CancelCampaign announced to-day the appointment of Mr. J. A. Strong as a Travis radiological physicist. He is a graduate of Victoria College and for the last year has been in charge of the radium emanation plant at the Wellington hospital The appointment is made possible by the generosity of the trustees of the Travis Estate, Christchurch, who made funds available to finance the post for three years. The appointment represents an important step and places New Zealand in line with other countries in the scientific control of cancer. Two imortant weapons, in the treatment of the disease are radium and deep X-rays, and the proper use of both of these agents demands the t supervision of a skilled physicist. Mr. Strong will visit Australia later in the I year to confer with physicists engaged I in similar work.
