INTEREST IN RESERVE BANK,
Looking Ivcry well after his trip abroad the Hon. W. Downie Stew-art, M.P. for Dunedin West, who was one of the New- Zealand delegates to the conference of the Institute of Pacific Relations at Banff, Canada, returned to 'Wellington yesterday and immediately took up his Parliamentary duties. In a brief interview Mr Stewart said he was disinclined at the moment to add anything to the views which he had already expressed in interviews and addresses in Auckland. He remarked that lie had a lot of leew-ay to make up in getting acquainted with the legislation at present before Parliament. Mr Stew-art- was particularly interested in the Reserve Bank of New Zealand Bill. He said that so far he •had had no opportunity of studying the amendments w-hieh had been made in the original measure, but he hoped to become acquainted with the measuie before the second reading debate concluded. ■ ~ , ~ Another measure in w-hich Mr Stewart is naturally interested is' the 'Companies Bill. Although he is aware of the general provisions of the Bill, he is looking forward to an opportunity of 1 studying the Bill in detail.
