VACANT JUDGESHIP
CAUSE OF INCONVENIENCE. APPEAL COURT COMMENT. (By rc><!graph —Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Sept. 27. Pointed reference to the position created by the non-appointment of a successor to Mr Justice Adams was made bv Mr Justice Reed at the conclusion of legal argument in a case m the Court”of Appeal to-day. The Court had just granted leave to a man to appeal as a pauper to the Court of Appeal from a judgment ot the Supreme Court, and on this intimation being given Mr. C. H. Weston, counsel for the appellant, said it was cesired if possible to have the appeal heard at the present sitting of the Court of Appeal. Mr Justice Reed. .the nresidmv nidge, with whom Justice omrtn was associated, said that an application for a fixture would ' have to be made at another time. i® highly improbable that a fixture can be made for the present sitting,” added his Honour, ‘‘because we are short on the judicial bench. It is causing a great deal of inconvenience and possibly in some cases it may result in a denial of justice, hut we can’t help that.”
