, The annual meeting of the Taranaai. Trotting Club was lield at -New I lymouth last evening, Mr W- C. TVeston presiding over an attendance ot to ( members. • , • . . ~ In moving the* adoption or tli-e 10IX)rt and balance-sheet, the president said it was unfortunate that the race meeting in April had to -be abandoned I but lie was sure the committee did the right thing. A meeting ot delegates from the Taranaki, Hawera and Wanganui clubs agreed to give la>UU in stakes. Had they gone on they would doubtless have lost some hunci reds of pounds. Had they decided to race they would have insured, the day against rain. He attended the meeting ot ! the New Zealand I rotting Conference at Wellington m July and was impressed by the splendid way everyone was pulling together for the good of the -sport. Another pleasing

feature was tlio excellent spirit, existing between the trotting and lacing bodies. He paid a tribute- to the work of the president (Mr H. F. Nico 11), who had been elected to that position for the twelfth time, a record. Mr Weston thanked the Taranaki Jockey Club tor its great interest and assistance at all times. The following officers were elected: Patron, Mr S. Ct. femith, M.P. : President, Mr W. C. Weston; vicepresideuts, Messrs E. Jackson and F. Boston ; coiuiuitlce, Messrs ]£. Price l , 15. Webster. W. Morgan) I was commended for his work during the year.
