Conditions were ideal and the coinpetitors were followed by about lOu cars and'as many bicycles. Nobodv was surprised when Savidan romped home, for his performances tliis season have shown every indication that he would. Cause for surprise came front the fact that Barnes did not run better and .that Weller, a youth, should make such a fine showino- against the Empire champion ovei the first two miles. Ho ran with judgment and always kept a reserve m hand. When lie found that Savidan had left him on. the open country he did not overtax himself to attempt an impossible feat, but moved along comf° Savidan entered Spriggcns Park about 120 yards ahead of Weller and maintained that distance for the finish, both slightly increasing then pare. E C, Brown moved up three places over the final stages, and although he passed G. Johnston, H. J. Brown had the)better sprint.
