CLAIM BY N.Z. GOVERNMENT. 'United P-ess Association —By Electric Telegraph Copyright.) SYDNEY, Aug. 24. Mr. L. J. Schmitt, New Zealand Oovei-nment trade commissioner, in accordance with cabled instructions from the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates, lias lodged a- claim with the Customs authorities under section 32 of the Finance Act. 1930, for the return of the silver discovered aboard the Piako at Melbourne. Under the Act the silver becomes the property of the New Zealand Government. Mr. Schmitt will see the master of tho Piako on arrival here on Monday.
