COCKATOO DOCKYARD

LEASE TO COMPANY. STATE LOSSES RELIEVED (United Press Association -By Electric Telegraph , Copyright.) MELBOURNE, Jan. 31. The Cockatoo dockyard at Sydney has been leased to a company known as the Cockatoo Docks and Engineering Company, announced the Prime Minister, Mr J. A. Lyons, -to-day. Mr Lyons said the terms were very satisfactory and the lease was for 21 years. For some years past the dockyard has involved the Commonwealth in a very heavy loss. For the last calendar year the loss on the working accounts alone was £70,000.
