MEAT WORKS TO START
SEASON AT WELLINGTON
FREE LABOUR IF NEEDED INTIMATION BY COMPANIES. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Nov. 23. It is stated authoritatively that according to the' present indications the Wellington Meat Export Company’s Ngahauranga works will commence killing some time next week. If the former employees do not turn up free labour will be engaged. A similar statement lids been made on behalf of the Gear Company. Normally each of these works employs about 100 .slaughtermen.
LOADING- AT LYTTELTON,
CARGO FROM LAST SEASON
CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 23. Watersiders responded to the call for labour at Lyttelton this morning, and proceeded to load 12,000 carcases of meat on the, Karamea. The meat was killed last season under the old award and it is understood the men received instructions last evening that loading .sEioulct .proceed. Operations were carried out without a sign or trouble. The Karamea leaves to-mor-row for New Plymouth.
