AY. Austin and F. J. Perry (Great Britain) ; Henri Cocliet. Jean Borotra I and Christian Boussus (France) ; S. B. j Wood and E. X. Shields (America); ! and J. Sat-oli (Japan). This was the first time since full | seeding has been in operation that | two Englishmen have been among the select eight. ! In the women’s singles the seeded plavers are: Aliss Bettv Nut-hall. Miss Phyllis Aln d ford and Mrs F. Whittingstall (Great Britain); Fraulein Cilly Aussem and Fraulein H. lvraliwinkel (Germany): Madame Rene Alatliieu (France); Aliss Helen Jacobs America); and Senorita Elia d’Alvarez (Spain). In the women’s international tennis matches at Eastbourne to-dav., Britain defeated France, winning all six matches. The “seeding’’ of players in tennis tournaments is an arrangement of the draw to provide for suitable distribution of outstanding players.
