ANNUAL MEETING HELD. Another .successful year was brought to a close when the Pa tea. branch of the Plunkct Society held its annual meeting on Wednesday night. Mr. H. ; G' Dickie, M.P., occupied the chair at the meeting. There were present visitors from Wavoiiey (Mrs. Currie and Miss Lupton), Alton-Hurleyville (Me.sdames Fullerton and Smitheram), lvakaramea (Mrs. Anthony and Miss Leversedge), nndHawera (Mrs. Moss). The Plunket Nurse (Miss A. C. Horrell) submitted her annual report as follows: “Visits to homes: Headquarters 530, out-stations 126; total 616 (1930, 442, increase 214); new babies 87, of which 62 were breast-fed, 10 supplemented with humanised milk. 15 artificially fed; visits to out-stations, Waverley 99 days, Alton 51 days, 1\ aitotara. 5 days; sales, Kariol £43 os, Karilac ,£7O Os lOd, Karil £5 10s, literature £2 19s lid —total, £l2l los 9d.

“During the year we moved into the new rooms, which are much appreciated by the mothers and nurse. 1 wish to thank all friends who have given flowers for decorating the rooms. Mr. Meharry for testing milk for fat ) percentage, Mr. Hoots fr stocking j Karilac for the convenience of the I mothers, also those who have conj veyed me on my rounds, especially to j district cases. I wish to thank the I committee for the kindly consideration shown to me in the work at all times, also the mothers for their loyaltv and support." In speaking to this report, Mrs. .'Roberts said this was a true index of j the growth of the society. There had been a great increase in the number of visits to rooms by mothers, babies I and older children. j\fr. E. F. Warren, executor of the Hunter Shaw Estate, was accorded a I vote of appreciation for his assistance to the Pa tea branch during the year. He was elected a life-member of the society, subject to the Central Council’s approval. . Rev. Aker of the Patea Dental Clinic Committee, asked whether the _ Dental and Plunket nurses worked in coui unction at all. The reply, in the affirmative, stated that if the Pfunket nurse noticed a child with teeth needin" attention, she- asked the mother to take the child to the Dental nurse for treatment. Mrs. Roberts, in thanking members for her re-election, stated that she had to thank her committee for then loyal support throughout the year and also two indefatigable helpers behind the scenes. A vote of thanks was also accorded the business people of the town for ■heir continued assistance and support.
