GIRLS’ BIBLE CLASS CAMP

PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH. PICNIC AT TURUTURU-MOKAI. Yesterday was a busy time for the girls of the Presbyterian Bible Classes of Taranaki, who have been in camp at the Hawera High School for Easter. The morning was, as usual, devoted to Bible instruction, for which a special manual has been written by Rev. H. Watson, of Khandallah. In the afternoon the members of the camp journeyed along the Turuturu Road to the reserve, where on the slopes of the historic Maori pa they listened to a most interesting talk by Rev. H. Curran on the history and. formation of the pa, also many valuable records of the Maori people of the district and the' province. He added references to the life of the people and events that took place at various times during the last century and especially during the wars among the tribes of Taranaki and Waikato and during the Maori War with the pakeha. At the conclusion cordial appreciation was expressed to the lecturer. Amongst those present were Rev. R. E. Evans, Mr L. A. Taylor, Mrs H. A. Sutherland, and Sister May, of the Maori Mission.

Last evening a thoughtful address was given to the girls on the subject of “The Two Ways,” and this was keenly appreciated by all the girls. The camp broke up finally this morning, after a very useful and instructive period.
