MANGATOKI

WOMEN’S INSTITUTE

(From Our Own Correspondent.)

The first ordinary meeting of the Mangatoki branch of the Women’s Institute was held on Wednesday*, Mrs R. D. Douglass presiding over an attendance of 29 members.

It was decided that, owing to the large'membership, the monthly meetings should bo held in the hall instead of in members’ homes, as originally arranged. The first Wednesday in the month lias been set aside as t-lie regular meeting day. Proceedings opened with the singing of the institute song and during the afternoon members were instructed in the making of slippers, etc., out of felt.

It was announced that members of the Haw-era Women's Club had undertaken to instruct members of the branch in brass work and other handicrafts.
