MOTORING IN SWEDEN

Many persons visiting Sweden for the < first time have a vague impression that this northern country is a land of arctic wilderness and are surprised to find that it is possible to motor comfortably from Ystad, in the extreme south, to Haparanda, in the north, and from there by crossing to Finland connect with the splendid new motor road that runs through the Petsaino district straight up to the Arctic Ocean. Much has been written of the natural beauties of the land of the midj night sun, but little emphasis has been placed on the striking qualities of Sweden’s summer nights, lights of ’little or no darkness, lit by the silvery afterglow of day. The advantage of this in planning motor trips in a land of magnificent scenery is obvious.
