DIRECTORS’- ANNUAL REPORT. The report to be presented at the annual meeting of * the Eltha.m Co-op. Dairy Company on August 9 is as follows : “All produce has neon consigned through tin l same three agents as ’ handled it the previous season (Messrs . Clement and Sons, Lane and Co., and N.Z. Producers’ Marketing Association), and in view of the market eonditions, the average prices idealised (53 16 pen cAvt. for cheese and 151 s per cwt. for butter) must he considered satisfactory. Suppliers have already been advanced at- the rate of Is 4.71 d per lb butter-fat for cheese-making, and Is 2.2 d per !b butter-fat from homeseparated cream, and further, pay- | ments Avill be made Avlien the unsold I stocks are realised. On the basis at which these stocks have been taken into account (72s per cwt. for cheese and 130 s per cAvt for butter), further payments may be expected, equivalent to . 62c1! per lb butter-fat for cheese, and ,3d per Jb for butter-fat for homeseparated cream. The output of 2764 tons cheese, 301 tons creamery butter, and 77 tons Avliey butter is a record for the company, and in addition we manufactured 361 tons of creamery butter for the Stratford Company, pending the completion of the new Stratford butter factory. This butter tvas handled under special conditions at a rate ol jell per lb, and the payment has been credited to our various expense accounts involved. Certain improvements have' been effected during; the season, chief of Avliicli are the erection of a wellequipped office,removal of the old cottage, and general improvement to the surroundings of the curing room, additions at 1 the butter factory, and purchase of a neAV lorry. Expenditure on these items has been capitalised, and will not, therefore, be a charge against produce for the present- season. A revision of the schedule of land, buildings, and plant appended to this report. has boon undertaken, and on the same basis throughout the re-valuation is at three quarters of a A'cry conservative estimate of present Avorth of buildings and plant, and at Government valuation in the case of land. Tim retiring directors, Messrs O. .W. Carlson, J. Cocker, and F. J. Mehrtens, being eligible, again offer their services on the directorate.”

.MATA BRANCH. BUILDINGS BEING MODERNISED. Extensive alterations are being made at the Mata cheese factory 7, one of the 1 Eltham Dairv Com jinny’s-'branches, and when the factory is re-opened! it will have' been thorouglfly 7 modernised. Tbe olid boiler house' has been re moved and in its place a new concrete wing about 50ft by 50ft bas been erected. This forms a new landing stage, separator room, boiler house and machine room. The milk, which wilL be received at- the new stage by a tip-in system instead of by h-oist. will be treated for standardisation, but that received at tine old stage will run directly into the cheese vats. Among the new equipment is a 1100-gallon isepairator and an electric water pump. The -cheese-making room, containing four v»ts; was modernised; some time ago. and after the present improvements lvave been completed the ,plant will fulfil requirements for many years.
