The Bank of New Zealand’s produce department has received the following advice from its London office as at close of business last week:

Butter.—Quiet, 156 s to 158 s per cwt. Cheese. —Quiet; white, SGs per cwt.; coloured, S4s per cwt.

The department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated January 11, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London:

Market quiet, but fairly steady, with moderate demand at auction this week. Present quotations are, spot: Mutton. —Fine 39s per cwt. ; fair to good, 36s 6d to 38s per cwt.; dark to dull, 34s 6d to 35s- per cwt. Beef.—Sweet and/or mixed, 37s 6d to 40s per cwt.. fair to good, 35s to 37s 6d per cwt. ; dark to dull, 33s 6d to 34st 6(1 per cwt. Mixed. —Fair to good, 35s to 37s per cwt. ; dark to dull, 33-s 6d to 34s 3d per cwt. Gut, etc., 32s 6d to 34,s 3d per cwt. WOOL

Bradford market dull, and tendency in favour of buyers. Tops., 50s prepared, now Is 9d; 40’s prepared, Is s}d ; others unchanged. HEMP

Manila market quiet but steady. “J” grade January-Maroh shipment quoted at £35 ss. Output for 1929, 1,559,000 bales, against 1,416,175 for previous year. Stocks in Manila at December. 31, 177,000 bales, against 158,452; in England, 9119, against 16,397 same time 1928.

Sisal market quiet with very little demand, and easier pine for afloat,- Business has been done in good marks. No 1 at £35 15s to £36; No. 2, £35. New Zealand.—Small business in high fair, but restricted owing to the absence of offers. Nominal camparative closing values January-Maroh shipment high fair, £33 10s; 'fair, £29 10s to £29 15s; common, £27 15s to £2B; tow, second grade, £2l ; third' grade. £lB.
