PERSONAL ITEMS.
A Suva message states that Mr. Henry Marks has been re-elected Mayor for the fifth term. A telegram from Wellington states that Messrs. P- C. Minns (Auckland) and J. C. Dakin (Otago) were selected to-day as the Rhodeis Scholars for the Dominion. Expressions of sympathy and indolence were extended to the relatives of the late Mr. G. Syme, Colonel Sutherland, Mr. A. Uttmger and Mr. Poison, sear., father of Mr. W. J. Poison, M. P. at th© meeting ofTne South Taranaki executive of the Farmers’ Union this morning, the members standing in silence as a mark of respect. Resolutions of condolence with the relatives of recently-deceased members of the Farmers’- Union were recorded at the adjourned monthly meeting of the Women’s Division of the Hawera branch this afternoon. The resolution concerned the relatives of the late Mrs J. J. Patterson, Mr. Kasper and 1 A. Uttinger and- Colonel T. C. Sutherland.
