LADIES’ TOURNEY. GISBORNE, Aug. 30. The New Zealand ladies’ hockey tourney was continued to-day in fine weather, and before a good attendance. The results were: Section 1. Poverty Bay A 3 beat Auckland A 2. Ruahine 6 beat Bush nil. Southland 5 beat Rotorua nil. Section B. Hawke’s Bay B 5 beat Eastern Southland 2. Auckland B 2 beat Poverty Bay B 1. Canterbury 11 beat Wairarapa nil. After two days’ play the leaders arc: Section A—Poverty Bay A and Ruahine two wins, Southland one win and one game to play. Section R Canterbury two wins. Wellington one win and one game to play. At a meeting of the executive of the New Zealand Ladies’ Hockey Association to-night a. letter was received from Mr Thompson (Wanganui) resigning bis position .as one of the selectors of the New Zealand team for Africa. Mr R. Smgcnor (Invercargill) was appointed at a meeting of the tournament committee. Mr W. A. Scott (Wellington) withdrew from the North Island selection committee for the inter-island match, and Mrs Dobson (Dannevirke) was appointed.
