KAPONGA FOOTBALL BALL.

PRESENTATIONS TO ME'MBEiES. As was anticipated, the Kaponga Football -Club’s ball bold in the Kaponga Town Hall on Friday, was a success in every way. Favoured with an exceptional mild and dry night, well wishers of the club in widely spread portions of the district were tempted; to make the journey andi at the conclusion of the long programme all voted. themselves well satisfied. Various kindred clubs were represented in the 120 couples who took the floor to the accompanying excellent music furnished by Coburn’s orchestra. The walls. of the hall were nicely decorated with greenery and ferns, while overhead a maze of streamers in the club’s colours (black and white) and those of the Taranaki Union (amber and black) dipped low in graceful, pendulous curves over the dancers. - The union’s colours were sported in honour of the numerous members of the club who have represented the province. An energetic and enthusiastic committee of lady supporters, as follows, were responsible for very complete supper arrangements: —-Mesdames C. H. Brewer, W. Carrington, J. A Dawson, I. Evans, j. S. Firth, J. W. H. Gardner, A. Gargan, «T. Hammersley, L. Thoumine, J. H. Tyaek, Misses W. Dawson, E. Gargan. 'Mr. Hammersley and M. Whalen. Much credit is duo to Mrs. Evans (Auroa) for her tasteful decoration of the hall and supper room, and to Mrs. J. 11. Tyaek, to whom was entrusted the lay-out and adornment of the supper tables. The duties of M’s.C. were carried out by Messrs. G. Guthrie, D. Mercer and C. Twist. During the supper recess music for extra dances was contributed by Misses M. Hickland, M. Guy (Matapu), Myrtle Evans, D. Marshall and Mr. C. Jeffries.

FOURTH FIFTEEN HONOURED. In the course of the evening the club president (iMr. J. iS. Firth) was called upon for what he regarded as a pleasure and an honour in presenting each member of the fourth fifteen with a cap in recognition of the team’s performance in .winning the fourth grade championship in the southern division. The team, lie said, had put up a wonderfully good record in winning nine matches in the competition and drawing one. Their only defeat was at the hands of the New Plymouth .Stars in the play-off for the provincial championship, hut. the soreness r of this reverse was leavened by the fact that thov were beaten by a much heavier and older team. 'The fourths’ success through the season, under the (coaching of .Mr. John Bennie, .was so pronounced that supporters of the club, recognising the worth of promising lower grade players, who will eventually replace retiring seniors, generously provided caps for the following, who had taken part in tlio season’s programme of matches: B. (Bradford (captain), F. Bradford. L. Benton, Brewer, C. Belli, E. 'Cox, I. Divehall, B. Eliascin, H; Gardner. C. Ham. R. Hick-land, F. Kilpatrick, B. Lyndon, A. Walker, D. Walker, T. Walker, L.
