NORMANBY.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) EUCHRE PARTY AND DANCE.
A very successful euchre party and dance took place in the Horteultural Society’s hall ut Normanby last night, ninety-four players being present. Mrs. Sanson and Mrs. 11. Wills tied for the ladies’ prize, and on being played off Mrs. Wills won the first prize. Mrs. Sanson taking the second. Mrs. C. Coxhead secured the consolation prize. No less than eight tied for the ladies’ lucky number prize, which was eventually secured by Mrs. T. Evans. ‘ Messrs H. Startup aud Don. Stewart junr. tied for the men’s prize, .and in the play-off Mr. Startup won. The consolation prize in this division was won by Mr. W. Green. Seven tied for the men’s lucky number, which was secured by Mr. C. Franklyn. At the conclusion of the games Mr. A. E. Spratt, speaking on behalf of the Horticultural Society, thanked all those who had supported the function. He wished specially to thank those who had donated the prizes, namely, Messrs W. Gane, B. Gibson, T. Evans, P. Linn, H. D. Hughes, and Mrs. Coxhead. He also thanked the ladies
for providing the supper, and all others who had assisted. He intimated that another euchre party and dance would he held on September 4, two prizes having already been donated, one by Messrs Galloway and Sons, and the other by Mr. A. E. Linn. Supper was served and the floor was cleared for dancing, which was kept up till the small hours of the morning. Mr. T. Pickering supplied the music.
