PATEA SEAT.
UNITED PARTY CANDIDATE. Air J. D. Hislop, United candidate for P'atea, addressed an attendance of 25 electors at Wbakamara last night. His remarks were a summary of his main speech at Hawera, with special reference to taxation. 'Several questions were answered satisfactorily and at the close a motion of thanks, moved by Mr H. Scott and seconded by Air W. Hamilton, was carried unanimously. Air Hislop also addressed a meeting of 24 electors at Alokoia last night. At the request of the meeting, Mr A. T. Alain presided, but in doing so stated that lie was opposed to the party to which Air Hislop belonged. The candidate spoke on the lines of his former addresses and at the conclusion of his remarks a vote of thanks and confidence proposed by Air E. Grogan and -seconded by Mr W. .Ro'thery was carried unanimously. ‘
