POLiTIOAiL ORGANISATION NOT APPROVED. A RiEQIJEST FOR, AMALGAMATION. (Bv Telegraph—Press Association.) AA'ELLINGTON. July 27. At the Farmers’ Union Conference, a motion that a political organisation be set up outside the.union for the purpose oil" putting into, effect the political platform, adopted by the conference was defeated by 36 to 21 votes. A request for amalgamation was received- from the Dairy Farmers’ Union, details for the proposed amalgamation being left in the hands of a special committee to- finalise. Remits passed included an appeal to the Government to make better ‘ .provision for workers’ homes in the country districts; urging the Government to immediately start reducing departmental expenditure and do ■ every thing possible to curtail public expenditure; that the principle of taxing the divisible surplus qf companies be abolished. The following officers' were elected: President, Mr AV. J. Poison; vicepi esideute, Messrs R. D. D-uxfield, H. R,. Stuckey, E. H. Muraey; treasurer, Mr R.. S. Chadwick; advisory committee, Messrs A.. E. tlairdii.ng, AA r . Morrison. H. M. Rushworth, J. Preston, J. D. Hall, E. H. Sim.
