A RECORD YIELD

H. WILLIS AT MATAPU

To Matn.pu belongs the distinction of having easily the best yield per acre for a pupil’s plot of mangolds in the .sellcol root-growing competition, Harold Willis, of the Hastings Road, having grown a plot which turned out at tlxe enormous figure of 188 tons 7 ewt. to the acre. The previous best was that of Dorothy Ward, of Okaiawa, some years ago', 152 tons. Young Willis was warinly congratulated by the judges to-day when the plot was weighed, Messrs Glasson and Syme doing the work. The cultivation, too, was so good as to secure the maximum.
