TWO MEN MISSING. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, June 12. Two of three young men who were out on a shooting expedition at the back of Wainui reservoir on Sunday have failed to turn up. A constable and the other member of the party, Jack Burns, have been out searching without result. The men are: Mervyn Hodgkinson and Clarence Poynter. Three .parties went out to-day, including members of the liutt Valley and Tararua Tramping Clubs, to rescue Mervyn ITodkinson, who was left in an exhausted state at the back of Mount McKerrow yesterday by Clarence Poynter, after being lost- since Sunday. Snow fell on the ranges last night, and the task of the parties is a- severe one, particularly as Hodkinson may have wandered away from the spot. With the had night and lack of anything to sustain him, Hodkinson must be in a serious plight.
LANDING PLACE; IN NEW 7 ZEALAND. WELLINGTON PUTS IN A CLAIM. W ELLINGTON, June 13. The Mayor of Wellington has sent the following cable message to Captain Kingsford-Smith at Melbourne : “Strong representations have been made to me to urge you to make Wellington your landing place in New Zealand. Should you fly here I can assure you a very hearty welcome.”
